Join experienced art lawyer Richard Louis for a two hour discussion on the basics of what every working artists should know about the law. Richard will explain the basic concepts of Federal, State, and local laws that affect visual artists. Richard will also explain ways you can start a business as artist. The latest law around generative artificial intelligence and ways you can prevent your artwork from being used by generative ai models will also be discussed.


Richard is licensed to practice in Washington D.C., New York, and has a limited practice in Maryland. He was also a paid speaker at the Kennedy Center for the Access/VSA Emerging Young Artists Program.
